Losing hearts and minds
Is it paranoid to think that someone (Rove) in the administration planted the story about the Koran being flushed, then disowned it, hoping to cause a smokescreen of media self-flagellation? What could they be diverting attention from? Could it be this? (NY Times, free access, but signup required). WARNING: This is a very disturbing, sickening story. It is clear that this is the type of story the administration would like to squash.
The administration wants to blame a Newsweek article for anti-Americanism, but it's possible that they knew that this new torture story was about to break, and created a diversion. This is not a new technique.
